  • Product Details

The Thin-Wall Pipe Welding Fixture is designed for positioning and clamping thin-wall cylindrical workpieces during longitudinal seam welding. It is particularly suitable for pipes and tubes formed by rolling flat steel sheets into a cylindrical shape.

After the sheet is formed by a tube rolling machine, the two edges of the sheet meet along the length of the pipe and need to be welded. The fixture applies controlled clamping force to hold the seam in position, helping maintain stable alignment during the welding process.

This pipe welding fixture can be used with different welding processes, including laser welding, TIG welding, and other longitudinal seam welding applications, depending on the customer’s production requirements.

Thin wall pipe welding fixture

Thin wall pipe welding fixture

Designed for Thin-Wall Longitudinal Seam Welding

Thin-wall pipes can be difficult to weld because the workpiece may move or deform when welding heat is applied. The longitudinal seam also needs to remain properly aligned along the entire welding length. The fixture is designed to hold the formed pipe securely and apply clamping force around the seam area. This helps keep the two edges properly positioned before and during welding.

Working Process

Flat Sheet → Roll Forming → Pipe Formation → Seam Alignment → Fixture Clamping → Longitudinal Seam Welding

The operator places the rolled pipe into the fixture and aligns the longitudinal seam. The clamping mechanism then applies pressure to hold the workpiece securely while the welding head moves along the seam.

Key Features

Stable Seam Clamping

The fixture provides controlled clamping force along the longitudinal seam to reduce movement during welding and maintain consistent joint positioning.

Designed for Thin-Wall Pipes

The fixture is developed specifically for thin-wall cylindrical workpieces formed from sheet metal, making it suitable for applications where workpiece deformation and seam alignment need to be carefully controlled.

Supports Consistent Welding

By keeping the seam in a stable position, the fixture provides a more consistent welding condition for automated or semi-automated longitudinal seam welding.

Customizable Design

The clamping structure, working length, pipe diameter range, support structure, and other dimensions can be customized according to the workpiece and welding process.

Applications

This pipe welding fixture can be used for longitudinal seam welding of:

  • Thin-wall steel pipes
  • Stainless steel tubes
  • Rolled sheet metal cylinders
  • Cylindrical housings
  • Metal ducts and tubes
  • Small tanks and cylindrical containers
  • Custom tubular components

It is suitable for manufacturers that form cylindrical workpieces from flat sheet metal and then weld the longitudinal joint.

Compatible Welding Processes

The fixture can be integrated with different welding systems according to the application, including:

  • Laser welding
  • TIG welding
  • MIG/MAG welding
  • Other longitudinal seam welding systems

The final fixture design should be selected according to the pipe diameter, wall thickness, welding method, seam design, and required production process.

Customized Pipe Welding Fixture

ZS Machinery can provide customized pipe welding fixtures based on the actual workpiece dimensions and welding requirements.

The fixture can be designed around parameters such as pipe diameter, welding length, wall thickness, seam position, clamping method, and welding equipment.

For automated production, the fixture can also be integrated with a longitudinal seam welding machine or CNC welding system.
